Bob and I drove out to Jordan Minnesota to see daylilies in bloom in Karol Emmerich’s Springwood Gardens greenhouse. I am far from a hybridizer– kind of like sitting in on a brain surgeon’s convention when I am taking high school biology. They were gracious and welcoming.\u00a0 I am a newcomer to raising daylilies and had a wonderful start when I bought my first little “Mini-Pearl” last summer — I fell in love with it.<\/p>\n

I called on my Mexico vacation\/daylily friend in Sag Harbor, Pat Neumann, for advice and encouragement and she sent me a big bunch of her plants including one named after her “Pat Neumann.” I planted them last fall and YAY they are coming up.<\/p>\n

Karol is working on hybridizing these lilies, it takes about 5 years to have one to introduce as a new variety<\/p><\/div>\n
