April 23 and 24 hiving the bees

This saturday Bob picked up the package of bees in the morning and kept them in the laundry room until later that day. The next photo shows Bob in his bee suit with the package on the hive. He will spray the bees down with some sugar water and then remove the can on the top — he will shake them down and then dump them into the hive. Then he puts a mini marshmallow in the hole of the Queen cage and places it in the hive. The workers will eat through the marshmallow in three or four hours and release her. All went well. Today, Easter Sunday, he took the little bunch of grass out of the small hole, allowing the bees to leave, and looked inside, noticing that there was a big bunch of bees where he had placed the queen. Since the day was warm, there was activity around the hive and I saw a bee on my flowers on the front porch! I guess we are on our way.
