a few short stories … starting with a nice shot of a balloon landing right across the street when Cully, Mark and the kids were here… I heard the firing of the flame from the house and called everyone to come and see — they landed in a small field across the street — it took a little while to set it down correctly to fold up.
Plus the Monarchs were back. I looked it up at exactly the same day in August (around the 8th) the butterflies were here — I counted 5 of them at one time this year — exactly the same as last year. Of course these are not the same ones… but I think these might be ones that migrate. I was so happy to see them with the warnings about their disappearance. They love the blazing star, rest on it, and appear to be eating. Now today, the end of August they are long gone. But I hope they are back next year.
Finally, cousin David stopped by — what an unexpected treat. Alan and Marie are moving to a smaller place and distributing some of Grandma Landt’s photographs to family members. Here are a few of the ones that were set aside for me.

Jerry and Judy

Gene and the twins. Mom is on the left, I think!

No date on this one, but I look around 18 months — so maybe.. 1945? From left: Grandma Loucks, Grandma Landt, Mom and me, May Grindrod, Grandpa Loucks in golf hat, Margie and Jerry, Grandpa Landt, and mystery woman? any ideas?

This one says Easter 1954, Jerry, David, Alan and me.
